Il Dolce Far Niente is an italian phrase meaning "the sweetness of doing nothing". I heard this pharse in the movie Eat, Pray, Love. Sometimes, the best response is to do nothing. This way, you can listen to your heart and search your soul.
Since 2009, when I learned the art of sharpening one's saw, I allot time for dolce far niente. In Stephen Covey's book, he mentioned the importance of rest in order for one to give more. He also emphasized the value of sharpening the different aspects of one's life. This is the best possible way to live.
Yesterday was Monday and I decided to work from home. I've been so tired these past few days and I felt I needed a rest. Thank God my work entails me to be online but I can work on mobile since there is no bid being rushed.
I woke up at around 7:30am and I'm online by 8am. I had breakfast and checked out my emails. I was in the comfort of my beloved sofa. Our sofa in the house is my special nook. I learned to love it. Not to mention, I love the ambiance of the green and blue leafy curtain which I bought last year.
Today, I feel more alive. I feel revitalized. Thank you to the great idea of il dolce far niente! Have a beautiful day!
